This WordPress plugin adds live chat functionality to your WordPress blog. Your visitors can chat with eachother right in your website without refreshing their browsers. It’s almost like chatting on an instant messenging network! And it’s all powered by AJAX, a hot new old technology that powers things like Gmail, Google Maps, and other brilliant web apps. How to install?
- Download, extract to your computer and upload to your hosting, server,…This is located at /wp-content/plugins/.
- Browse to your plugins manager in the admin section of your blog. Activate Jalenack’s Wordspew plugin. This will automatically create a table in your database that the plugin will use for its content.
- Now you have to choose where you want the shoutbox to show on your blog. I suggest putting it in your sidebar. To edit the sidebar, go to Appearance –> Widgets and drag Shoutbox to your sidebar.
Note:
If shoutbox not show in your homepage when you edit Widgets, you can do this way:
If you can not show shoutbox in your homepage. You can go to:
“…/wp-content/themes/yourtheme/sidebar.php“
using FTP software or login to your hosting control panel,… and put the code:
<? php jal_get_shoutbox(); ?>
into place you want to show.
Example:

the shoutbox not show in my homepage
Probably you should edit the proposed syntax for adding shoutbox into your sidebar.
Instead of
it should read
i.e. delete the space between <? and php.

That is a good one but i wonder if it will click because there are many better chatting software like YM, Skype, Google talk, Msn and many… comparing this one to the other chatting software i think this will not win because it’s color and the design is not pretty good, it’s look like just simple but then thanks for sharing that one, i hope you do not hurt for what i said, that was just what i see and my opinion of that chat box.

you can login to hosting cpanel or using ftp software ex:cuteftp,flashfxp,…to access wp-content folder.

We are having a single window while using this chat, everybody use the same window to chat, everybody can see eachother messages. i would like to have an option of one to one chat as well.

HI, I love this shout box but for some reason, its making internet explorer users have a browser crash. I think its mostly the Version 8 users. Anyone else have this same problem? I tried turning off my plugins but the IE users are still experiencing a crash.
plugin works well on all browsers: FF, IE, Opera, … You should try to remove and re-install the plugin.
