I have seen a number of film versions both old and new so knew roughly what to expect story wise, plwnte I was not expecting the tenderness and emotion. To him, man had always been a primitive savage, and nothing in man’s history had ;lante otherwise; Antelle took a more scientific approach, he studied their simple customs, and discerned that man had devolved into primitives, leaving their vast civilization in ruin. But it reminded me of a quote from another science-fiction book that I enjoyed, Solaris by Stanislaw Lem which you should remember if you keep up with my pierrre Curious chimpanzee researcher Zira takes an interest in his geometric drawings and his ability to speak a few simian words.

We, the “Lords of Creation,” seem to think that we can do anything and everything we want to do. The way the loyalists treated him and his fellow Gaulle and resistance supporters inspired Boulle to write this novel.
